A blade-happy and loyal daughter of a wealthy merchant who might be a psychopath with a father complex. She has a flit named Misdemeanor (Missy). While she has a lot of "friends," it's unclear which of them actually like her and which of them just don't want to be stabbed. She has just been sent by her father to Fort Weyr to become a Candidate with the rest of her siblings.

A grouchy, ex-alcoholic Master Shipcrafter and a determined tough-love Bronze with delicate bones. They have two flits named Scorch and Shaffit. Beric spends most of his time overseeing repairs and improvements at the Weyr, especially around its small harbor. The pair have a tentative agreement with Syrim to advocate for them when Threadfall comes.

A carefree, somewhat clueless noble and relative of Lady Reina of Fort who ran away from home with his friend Tea to impress dragons instead of running his family's business. He has no intentions of ever returning to Fort.

A no-nonsense alternative medicine Journeyman Healer who can't be pinned down and a well-meaning but easily anxious Blue. They have a host of odd pets: a jungle-plains mrreow named Jubilee (Juju/Jubi), a jyeff named Pim, an old runner named Ember, a one-eared loper named Kirr, and a flit with torn wings named Hearth. Hallei is currently developing a treatment plan for dragon sleep disorders. The pair are oftentimes away from the Weyr on Search and to serve as a traveling clinic.

A sweet and sheepish trader with a penchant for the lute and a pushy, ambitious Flint-Sunstone who only wants the best for her rider. Ja'li has recently reconnected with childhood friend M'cael, whom she has strong feelings for, and has been surreptitiously adopted into his large family. The pair are looking to be wingleaders -- whether Ja'li is ready for it or not.

A temperamental ex-pirate-turned-creche-leader and a Geode with violently high standards. They have an entire fair of extremely well-trained flits named Howlite (Howl), Brilliant (Brill), Peridot (Peri), Sheen, Kelpie, Primrose (Prim), and Tsunami (Tsuni). A steady-handed warrior, Jocasta was part of the Spring 5204 egg theft rescue, and recently murdered her abusive father with the blessing of the Pirate Queen Nirka. The pair have an agreement with Syrim to transfer -- along with Jocasta's sister Jayne and her dragon Green Leloyrarth -- whenever they are asked.
